REV. DAVID HARTONO

Senior Pastor and Pastor of Indonesian Ministries

Rev. David Hartono was born in a non-Christian family in Surabaya on the island of Java in Indonesia. During his early teenage years, his older sister introduced him to the Christian faith. However, only by the grace of God did he finally profess the Christian faith after experiencing a deep spiritual crisis during his freshman year in college.

Shortly after his conversion, he experienced God's calling to become a full time Christian worker. For a brief time he studied at a local Bible College, then he continued his theological training at New Zealand Bible College, Melbourne College of Divinity, and Australian College of Theology, Sydney. He received his Diploma in Theology (with Merit), Bachelor of Theology (with Honors), Master of Theology (with Honors).

After serving as a senior pastor in Indonesia he immigrated with his family to the United States in 1988. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in inter-cultural studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, School of World Mission with the dissertation topic:" Paul's Contextual Christology as a Preferred Model for Creedal Churches."

Rev. Hartono has been privileged to serve in a wide variety of ministerial experiences. In Indonesia, he was the Dean of Studies and lecturer at Alatheia Theological Institute, senior pastor, and advisor at Christian school. In the United States, he has served as a teaching assistant at Fuller Theological Seminary, the pastor of outreach at a local church, and the President of the Executive Committee of the Council of Pacific and Asian American Ministry of the Reformed Church in America.

He is married to Grace Wangsa and is blessed with two children. His son, Dr. John Robert is recently married to Anita Chang, while his daughter Marie Paulina is a first-year student at UC Berkeley. Rev. Hartono speaks several languages fluently.
